We saw a bit of a documentary that highlights that major impacts and travesties that took place on 9/11 at the World Trade Centre.
You also have gained more knowledge on the event after having read 'We All Fall Down'
For homework, I would like for you to write a short paragraph response on your reaction/feelings/thoughts on the world event that affected thousands of people. Use information shown to you from the documentary to help with your response.
This is a devastating event. It must've been horrible to see the event live. People running, civillians screaming, this truly was a nightmare. When I saw this doccumentary, my happiness faded, and my sadness rushed in. I feel truly sorry for the people who had to witness this. I can't believe the people driving the plane would purposely crash into the World Trade Center, they are horrible people. Then again, these are the reasons why the world isn't perfect. I'm truly sorry to those who had been envolved in the terrorist attack, and I hope the people who did survive have a normal and happy life
ReplyDeleteGreat post Adrian! You are right , the world isn't perfect and this unfortunately was a reminder of that.
ReplyDeleteThe documentary made me realize just how horrible this event was. If I were a wife who became a widow on that dreadful day, I would not only feel sad, but also infuriated, because the innocent people who died did nothing to deserve what they got. The video also made me realize that something like that could happen to any of us. It was a beautiful sunny day on September 11, 2001, and nobody was expecting 2 commercial airplanes to crash into their workplace, or the building they pass by on their way to work or school, or even just a landmark that everyone just knows about. The impacts it had on society are unbelievable, and the number of women who became widows or men who lost their wives, or children who lost their parents is outrageous. What if we were in that building? What if the same thing happened, but to our school? However, we need to forgive the ones who set up the attacks, because Jesus would tell us to forgive our enemies. It pains me that people have the mind to do horrible things like that, and I pray that people can follow Jesus' path of goodness instead of the devil's path of evil. Pray for those who died in the attacks, that they may be risen to the light of the Lord. Some people may think that a world of peace is unattainable, but I think if we work towards what we want, and we don't give up, then we can achieve world peace.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to put it in perspective Patrizia!
DeleteThis day September 11 2001 was the worst day for the people that died it was devasting. Some people lived and some people sadly did not stay here with us and to this day we will always remember those people I am so sorry for the peoples family's and the people that witnessed it I am so sorry thank you never forget sept 11 2001
ReplyDeleteGood job patty and Adrian so true
ReplyDeletethis was indeed a devastating event. When I was little and I first heard about the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre, I didn't really understand it too well. While watching the documentary and even reading the book I started understanding how big of an event this was and how many people died or jumped off the building because they were trapped by raging fires and gastric fumes. Also, while hearing the stories of peoples wives and husbands in the building really broke my heart, and to see the man crying as he was talking about his wife made me feel very upset. I can't believe someone would plan to do such a devastating thing especially when thousands of people were working in the buildings. I wonder if terrorists feel a little guilt, even if its not a lot just a little. then again, I don't know, I just wondered because of how serious this event was and how it was broadcasted all around the world. To end this off, this was a devastating event and my prayers go to the witnesses of the 9/11.
ReplyDeleteLilliana, I think if the hijackers were alive today they would feel great sorrow for what they did. Often times they take their own lives during such an event because they would not be able to live with the guilt that follows.
DeleteAmazing comments thus far! I'm very impressed with how apathetic you all to the event, and how strongly your opinions are towards the subject!
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to this event is that people, with real jobs and real people that care about them, died in this event.People jumped off because they wan't to die shortly. They knew they were dead the second the plane hit. They didn't want to die as a statistic. They wanted to be heard. This was the only way to do it.I still feel as if this did not happen.Like it is just a story line of a movie. Before this book and documentary,I knew 9/11 happened, but it didn't really matter to me.Now,I see real tragedy in this event. Sons, daughters, wives, husbands, friends, died that day.I can feel sad but never truly feel the real pain and suffering that happened on that day.
ReplyDeleteI think we can all agree
DeleteGreat post David! It is enlightening to know about events such as these, they help us understand the world we live in. They also show us that there is always hope and healing afterward.
DeleteThe day of 9/11 has made a devastating hole deep within our hearts and we cannot fix this hole, the documentary made me open my eyes on what really happened in 9/11 it made me sad with knowing knowledge of that devastating act of terrorism. I had always knew 9/11 was horrible but is documentary showed me that it is more than horrible it is what we can call "Hell". I think we should be more considerate to those who lost a family member because of this. We are all lucky to live in a time in which will not happen. When you are done reading please take a moment to remember those at the world trade center on 9/11. Let God help those souls to heaven.

ReplyDelete9/11. I used to always see it as an unfortunate event,I have never seen it as I see it now. After reading "We All Fall Down", watching this documentary and doing some research myself, reality slapped me in the face and made me realize how tragic this event really was. This documentary took me from seeing the 9/11 attack as "unfortunate" and "sad" to "atrocious", "vicious" and "devastating". These were real people, this was real. Those planes really did go through the twin towers. It was so difficult to take in what had really happened. As I looked around the class, and I saw the faces of my classmates, it hit me that I wasn't the only one who was slapped in the face by reality. In my life, this tragedy was never advertised much, and I feel as if we need to take it upon ourselves to be aware of what happened and happens in the world around us so that we can be more considerate of the innocent people just like us who have real families and real lives, who die because of someone else's selfish reason. All of this passed my mind while watching this documentary. It's funny that a documentary can change your whole perspective on things.
ReplyDelete9/11 has always been something that I would refer to as something or great impact and horrific. We All Fall Down showed me that it was more than that. It was about showing that even the most imperfect things in the world can have an upside. the upside that Will and John found a bond after accomplishing what they did. The documentary made me see than when 9/11 was nothing more than a joke to me, I never thought about it like this. This This was not a joke, it actually happened. It brought great fear and devastation to families that had lost someone, yes. Too those who survived, it brought great pride and love. It hurts that sometimes it takes horrible things to prove a point, or fight against something. I'm not saying that it was right of the terrorists to cause such a commotion, not to mention all the casualties, but in some sense maybe it was right of them to stand up for what they believe in. Maybe next time not in such a treacherous way, but they were in a way fighting for themselves. If we came from where they came from and had the same religion, maybe we would look at it differently. It just seems more horrible than anything to us because of where we stand in it. Its so weird to me that this only just came to my mind in the last five minutes. This was utterly wrong, but some people might not be thinking the same way. Maybe if Canada or the USA had a tighter bond with everyone around the world at the time, this might not have happened. Everyone watching that documentary in class looked so horrified and even, with some, scared. I hate to watch something like that happen, but everything has a reason and happens when it happens.
ReplyDeleteSeptember 11, 2001. The day when the Twin Towers collasped. Truely a sad time for everyone, children and adults alike. Everyone had to be impacted in some way, whether it was worrying about family that would work there or was close when it happened. In a case of the book 'We All Fall Down', was directing the fact that Will and his father was inside the World Trade Center when it happened. I thought that was very suspenseful throughout the whole book, because I didnt know what was gonna happen. When I found out that they survived, I had a sudden shock of relief, because Will and his Father have come closer as father and son during the event, and seeing them both alive, and when Will ran up to hug his dad was heartwarming. Now to the actual event. To say the least, the actual event was terrifying, even though I wasnt really there. Knowing that those two planes were hi-jacked was just... Shocking. I'd say the saddest and tear-shedding moments where when people had to... Well... Jump off. They knew the certain death that awaited them, and they didnt wanted to suffer from burning, choking or becoming incapacitated due to trauma. So it was either to die in the most painful way, or die painless. -and the sad part was there was no other way to survive, either because they were above the crash or the room was way too hot/on fire and there was no escape. Anyways, enough with the depressing stuff, some people survived, and thats a plus. The event was surely horrifying and I wish that would never happen again, in context of planes crashing into monuments of famous structures.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me feel sad to just to imagine how the families of the people trapped inside the buildings and the people inside the buildings were feeling because people outside of the towers witnessed people inside of the buildings jumping out of the windows and the people inside the building didn't know if they were going get out of the buildings or if they will die trying. That day was one of the most tragic days of all history because many people died trying to leave the buildings and some had no choice but to commit suicide. That just day wasn't just a tragedy but was also the start of a war between Canada and USA against Muslim extremists such as "Isis" based of my knowledge. This tragic event shows how cruel the world could be if the world was against each other instead of being at peace.
