  2. We the North- Bilingualism
Canada is a large country known for bilingualism. Bilingualism means that the country speaks more than 1 language. Canada speaks English and French. French became one of Canada's official languages in 1969 with the official languages act. Today, everything from juice boxes to important documents are written in English and French. Bilingualism is important to Canada because it is what we are known for in other countries. Quebec has the highest population of French-speakers in all of Canada! In most Canadian schools, students learn to speak French so that they can eventually speak both of Canada's official languages. Bilingualism is a big part of Canada's identity and Canada would not be Canada without it. #WeTheNorth

  3. Back then, lots of innocent people died of sicknesses. Those who could not afford healthcare. Those who paid for Healthcare survived the crucial conditions and sicknesses the poor had to face.No w our government has thought and made a decision that has changed and evolved the lives of all. This change has evolved peoples lives in a way that leaves a lot of people alive and cured of sicknesses[much less deaths].
    Nice move Canada

  4. Canadian Identity Assignment - Universal Healthcare

Canada is a wonderful place, and most Canadians at this time know about the 'Universal Healthcare' law that was made in 1966. Before the law came into existence, many people would suffer under treacherous pain because they did not/would not afford it. As soon as the people of Canada realized that everyone should be able to get healthcare, poor or not, therefore establishing the law. So it is very important that it stays like this, or we'll probably all get majorly sick. (if you cant afford it, that is.) It's relevance stays strong with Canada, because some people think about Canada, they think about Health Care. (Well... The majority of Americans probably think of that) Anyways, with or without Universal Healthcare, I'd say that Canada's really..
    eh-mazing!

  5. Democracy is important because it is only right that all Canadian citizens should have rights to vote, they should be anle to choose the leader that they want to vote for. Back then people had to read their vote out loud, many innocenct citizens died for this reason people didnt like the leader they voted for so they were murdered and if you didn't vote for the leader your boss wanted you are risking your job. Democracy is important for it is in our name " We are true north strong and FREE". No human should have no rights at all, we should all have acces to democratic rights. I can see democracy almost everyday at school where everyone has a right to go to school. I think democracy should be in all countries for all humans have equal rights.

  6. Democracy is very important to Canada and Canadians. Without democracy nobody's voice would be heard. With democracy your voice can be heard. We choose our leaders. Early in Canada's history, most votes were public. This means voters cast their votes out loud. They could be persuaded into voting for someone. Using this voting system, a man could be forced to vote for someone against his will or he could lose his job. Before 1870, New Brunswick was the only province to use the secret ballot process, which is the one we use currently. The way this process works is that nobody knows who someone votes for, and nobody can tell someone who to vote for. I see democracy when the federal election recently happened. I am currently too young to vote, but once I am old enough I will take advantage. This is why democracy is important and relevant to Canada.

  8. Universal Healthcare is a right everyone should have but it wasn't always like that. Prior to 1966 only those Canadians who could afford healthcare received it. Leaving those who couldn't helpless. A brave man stood up for all Canadians and Universal Healthcare became a law that has given all Canadians young and old the ability to receive the care they deserve and the illnesses under control.

  9. Bilingualism is when a country speaks more than one langauge. Canada is one of the contries that use bilingualism with speaking English and French. The Canadian government has chosen to include bilingualism so that imagrants could feel like they are truly at home and this started in 1969. Now, from documents to food you buy in a store has included French and English writing in the name. With Canada being bilingual it truly represents us around the world in a positive way and did you know thatQuebec has the highest number of French people in Canada! It is also truly amazing how Canada has French is taught on a regular bases at elementary schools and that we have French emergent schools, but no matter what languages we speak in Canada we will still be the true north.

  10. Multiculturalism

Multiculturalism is important for may reason. One of the most important reasons are to communicate with other country's around the world who dot speak English.I see multiculturalism in my class, the streets, and in downtown because there are specific areas were the Chinese or Spanish people can live. The people that are Chinese or Spanish can still live where ever they want to.

  13. A Democracy is important to the Canadian Society because you can not be force, threaten or risk loosing a job for not voting for the person some one or your boss wants you to vote for, this is a good an important benefit of a democracy because someone can be force to vote for a person that is not experience or a person who does whatever he/she wants. A democracy is relevant because it gives the chance for all Canadian Citizens' voice to be heard, this is important because if every ones voice is heard that means there are equal rights and if there are equal rights there is no segregation or racism and people will have what they need to enjoy a good an healthy life.

  14. Before 1966, people had to pay for their healthcare. The only people who receive healthcare are the ones who could afford it. That meant The majority people could not be cared for if they were sick. The situation could of be devastating if a virus spread across the country. That's when the government knew that we needed universal healthcare so everyone can live a happy and healthy life. As a result universal healthcare became a law for all Canadians to enjoy. I see the benafits of universal healthcare when I go to the hospital. When I was at the hospital I saw many people coming to see a doctor for free. Thank goodness for healthcare because without it it would be a disaster. #we the north : by dc

  16. I believe that every citizen deserves a right to have free healthcare. There are so many people with medical problems that wouldn't be able to afford healthcare if it wasn't free. Since healthcare is free, people with medical conditions have survived. I remember when I got apendicitis. If I was in any other country, my parents would have to pay a lot of money. Thankfully, healthcare is free.

  17. Freedom of Religon/Culture

Canada has many aspects, but I think freedom or culture and/or religion is one of it's best aspect. I think this because Canada wouldn't be a multiculturalism country if citizens weren't allowed to practice their beliefs or culture and in brase it. I've seen many different people from all over Ontario with many different cultures like Italian, Portuguese , Jamaican , Vietnamese and many more in places like school. stores and other places. This is why i think Canada's best aspect is multicultralism

  18. Democracy it helps our Canadian government with lots of things like politics, pros and cons taxes etc. Democracy is an important part of Canadian culture because democracy is Canada's form of government. Democracy is also important because once you are 18 or a citizen you can vote for your potential leader to lead Canada. Democracy is relevant because it keeps our country organized and controlled with several politicians. Voting is a big part of democracy today and it is more advanced because of its modified voting standards, like no one can see who you vote for, and no one to tell you who to vote for. Democracy is relevant because without it Canada would suffer big time because there would be chaos for different laws to be set. This is why Canada needs a democratic system to lead our country. ``We the North``

  19. In 1966, our people had to pay for their own healthcare. Only the people that paid more got the better healthcare. The people that didn't really have a lot of money to pay for their healthcare ended up being sick. Canadians thought that it was unfair to them and that they should get the same health care as other people get. Canadians wanted to change the law for their right and freedom. The government chose to change the law for other Canadians that can't afford it. Now Canadians all get the same healthcare. We also don't have to pay the doctors anymore because the government take over for us. This is relevant to our health care because all people have the right and just to get the same healthcare as other people. That's why healthcare is relevant to Canadians. #WeTheNorth

  20. The best thing about being Canadian is the democracy and rights.eople in Canada that are 18 or older can vote for who the government is going to be.In the 1870s New Brunswick was the only province to use a secret voting system. With the new voting system it was much fairer to vote.Today I see democracy when people are being fair.Democracy is what Canada is know for. 21. Diversity is important to Canada because of all the different refugees that arrive to Canada for ex : we get many immigrants for Syria and countries in war . It is important to have different countries if we did not we would not have different cutlers which would just make us a plane country .

  22. Universal health care: If you need health care and you live in Canada or even visiting as long as you have your health card visiting the doctor or hospital is free. Unless you have to get materials like casts
or crutches then you would only need to pay for that. Before 1966 Canadians would have to pay for the medical health care they received. They would only have the health care if they could pay for it. This would mean that the more the rich you are the better health care you get and the less the rich wouldn't get the greatest health care. Then in 1966 people fought for the right to have free universal health care in Canada. Now all doctors get paid by the government and not by their patients. So just to make a smile on doctor's faces. Say thank you everytime they help you.

  24. Democracy: Canada is governed democratically. A democratic country is a place where everyone has the freedom of choice. It gives Canadian citizens the ability to place a vote on who they would like should lead their country. Canada has been a country since 1867 and has almost always been a democratic country. Now, we vote using ballots so that no one can influence our decisions on who we should vote for. This is good because it is a fair system and people can know that if the decisions made by citizens are uninfluenced. It is an amazing system that has been working for Canada since the 1870s. People like this about Canada because they have the right to speak their opinion without being called on. This system is great for people who want to be able to have a say in what happens when a new leader is elected.

  26. Don't you think that everyone should deserve a free healthcare? Well in 1966 everyone in Canada had to pay for their healthcare. Lots of people in Canada could've been hurt or could've died but it was just because you had to pay. Especially those who couldn't afford to pay but watched all of the people who could and suffered. But we are really lucky that now our government pays for our healthcare and others don't go through anything bad.
